Textile Design

The Textile Design curriculum offers opportunities to the students to create and work with a wide range of materials. The curriculum emphasizes upon the integration of creative design with textile technology, from the perspective of industry, sustainability, historical, social responsibility and cultural contexts in which the designers work today. The programme emphasizes on learning and building a variety of skills through computer- aided designs, design projects related to home furnishing and apparel, with inputs in craft, trends and brand identity. The curriculum includes inter-disciplinary projects, short training in industry and field visits to craft clusters, which helps the students to enhance deeper understanding towards cultural issues that impact designs. The Textile Design students undertake graduation projects in their final year and graduated students find successful employment with textile mills, exports house and apparel retail brands, designers and craft initiatives.
